Launch of the 2nd edition of the FABA Health Endowment

A symbolic date for a lasting commitment Tunis, March 23, 2025
The ABA Foundation is proud and honored to announce the official launch of the 2nd edition of the FABA Health Endowment, an initiative aimed at supporting innovative projects in the fields of health, research, and access to care.
The date of March 23 was not chosen at random. It pays tribute to the late Amina Ben Ayed, wife of the founder Abdelwaheb Ben Ayed, born on March 23, a woman of science and heart, who dedicated her life to research, notably in the first laboratory for avian disease detection in Tunisia. A discreet yet determined pioneer, she worked with rigor and passion for animal health, directly linked to public health challenges. Through this endowment, the ABA Foundation continues its commitment to meaningful innovation and sustainable impact, reflecting the very values embodied by Mrs. Amina Ben Ayed: scientific rigor, humanity, and dedication to the common good. The FABA Health Endowment will support impactful projects in the following areas:
• Medical and biotechnological innovation.
• Applied research serving patients.
• Equitable access to healthcare.
• Sustainable solutions for the health systems of tomorrow.

This event was designed to encourage communication among researchers, fostering debates around various scientific topics. It also allowed students to share their research work while gaining new skills through the different workshops offered.
Approximately 200 participants gathered for this 3rd edition, enjoying a scientific symposium covering the three main research areas of the Pasteur Institute of Tunis. The event also featured national and international speakers, as well as numerous oral and poster presentations by students. The workshops were organized around three themes and included a "Science Slam" session.
The first workshop, titled "The right fund for the right job," was led by Dr. Mohamed JEMAÀ. It provided PhD students with the tools necessary to seek postdoctoral opportunities.
The second workshop, "Computational approaches for biomedical research: Which, When and How," was conducted by Dr. Emna HARIGUA. It helped young researchers better understand when and how computational approaches can assist them in addressing research questions or analyzing their data more effectively.
The third workshop, "Emotional intelligence to support Leadership," was led by Ms. Chiraz BASSOUMI. This workshop helped participants strengthen their leadership skills, particularly by improving their perception and management of emotions.
The Science Slam session made science more accessible to the general public through short (5-minute) presentations that showcased certain scientific works in a clear, entertaining, and concise manner.
To create a friendly atmosphere, an evening event was organized at the Pasteur Institute of Tunis. This gathering provided a valuable opportunity for informal meetings and exchanges among researchers from different generations.
Le premier atelier, intitulé "The right fund for the right job," a été animé par le Dr. Mohamed JEMAÀ.
Le deuxième atelier, "Computational approaches for biomedical research: Which, When and How," a été dirigé par le Dr. Emna HARIGUA.
